Our client is a very well established international manufacturer of automotive components--they have an immediate need for a candidate with a strong background in automotive stampings to become a senior buyer--they will consider someone who hasn't specifically worked in purchasing but has a strong background in tooling and stamping that wants to get into purchasing.

Job Description
This position requires development of a supplier base consistent with price, quality and on-time delivery to support all production part and material requirements including supplier selection. Buyer is responsible for cost reduction initiatives and supply strategies for assigned commodities in support of corporation and individual goals.
 
Job Requirements
Sources and negotiates with potential suppliers, requests RFQs, evaluates and analyzes results and recommends suppliers based on  standards.
Works with engineering, manufacturing, and other groups to find cost savings opportunities.
Benchmarks assigned commodities, conducts market research.
Performs cost analysis with a thorough understanding of cost factors.
Sources "best value" products through domestic, international, and LCC suppliers. Buyer should possess a basic understanding of product flow through import/export and customs/broker process.
Achieves cost reduction goals for assigned commodities in support of corporate directive.
Possesses an understanding of contractual language and the fundamental skills for contract writing.
Evaluates supplier performance, stability and institutes improvements and corrective action as required.
Interface with Supplier on production part PPAPs and quality issues.
Prepares and monitors documents such as blanket and tooling and equipment requisitions and cost reduction worksheets, analysis spreadsheets and industry trends of assigned commodities.
Participates in and supports AQP activities in support of New Product Launch activities.
Compiles and evaluates data for various weekly, monthly, and annual reports (cost reduction, market fluctuation, LCC, supplier ratings, budget variance, and supplier expenditure).
Visits supplier locations for VA/VE workshops, tool audits, readiness audits, etc.
Performs other duties as necessary.
EXPERIENCE:
3 - 5 years production purchasing experience
Stampings and Stamping die experience a plus.
Knowledge of supply chain management and contract law.
