Our client is the largest and most dependable manufacturer of Heavy Duty Transit Buses in North America. Our customers are in all 50 states, and include cities, counties, transit districts, universities and major private fleet operators. 

Our client is seeking a CAD Applications Lead Engineer to develop the  xCAD ecosystem and support the user community. A successful candidate will have extensive experience as a product design engineer with expertise using and administering Siemens NX for mechanical design. While the focus will be on MCAD software and methodologies, it is envisioned that this role will also provide support and administration for ECAD software, such as Zuken E3, for the design and development of wiring harnesses.

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development and rollout of a long-term strategic vision for product engineering and product development design & modeling environments.
  • Drive all aspects of virtual product development including mechanical design and simulation as well as wiring harness design.
  • Work with internal and external partners to install xCAD software as well as approved patches/bug fixes and upgrades and to maintain associated licensing requirements, computing infrastructure and training.
  • Provide xCAD software administration services including supporting and maintaining top performance and configuration of xCAD application software.
  • Increase the utilization and integration of xCAD software throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Utilize industry recognized best practices to establish, develop and deploy processes for:
    • CAD structure for vehicle architecture, major systems, subsystems and components (Virtual Mock UP)
    • CAD data management, version control, datum control
    • Mechanical and Electrical simulation structure
    • Modeling techniques
    • Design guidelines & requirements management
    • File management
    • BOM structure management
    • Robust, efficient change management and control
  • Manage xCAD software vendor relationships. Establish and maintain technical contacts.
  • Perform hardware/software benchmark tests and specify hardware configurations for engineering workstations and determine software upgrade requirements.
  • Provide expert assistance, guidance and mentoring to users of xCAD software and maintain records of support activity.
  • Evaluate xCAD software training needs and develop and deliver training to users and stakeholders at all skill levels.
  • Manage the migration of data from existing legacy MCAD applications to Siemens NX

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience is required.
  • A minimum of five years of industry experience as a mechanical product design engineer or equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of five years of experience using Siemens NX mechanical design software is required.
  • Experience working in Siemens Teamcenter environment
  • Knowledge of ECAD software such as Zuken E3
  • A successful candidate must demonstrate proficiency in:
    • Solid modeling
    • Surface modeling
    • Assembly modeling
    • Kinematic analysis
    • Static stress analysis
    • Detail drafting
    • BOM management
  • An expert level of skill in the use and administration of Siemens NX software is required. Proven ability to develop and deliver technical instruction to xCAD software users both individually and in groups is required.
    • Experience supporting CAD software and mechanical simulation software users is required.
    • Experience using and administering ECAD software applications such as Zuken E3 is a plus.
    • Effective communication and organizational skills are required.
    • Thorough knowledge and experience with Product Data Management (PDM) and Change Management (CM) applications and processes.
    • Programming experiencing in scripting, API, and high-level programming languages a plus.
